ALABAMA AHEC
The primary objective of Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is to increase the number of students who enter healthcare programs, train in rural and underserved areas, and obtain healthcare jobs.
Increasing the number of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners. therapists, and other health professions, especially those coming from rural and underserved areas, has been shown to increase access and improve the overall health of communities.
The North Alabama AHEC provides services and activities that support health careers promotion, student and resident experiential education, community health awareness and professional continuing education within the the northern 13-county service area.
Area Health Education Center
The mission of the Alabama Statewide Area Health Education Centers Program is to reduce health disparities by improving the quantity, diversity, distribution and quality of Alabama's healthcare workforce.
